The Mount Edith Cavell Day Use Area continues to receive much needed improvements this year. During summer 2017, construction is taking place on the parking lot and access road at the end of the Cavell Road. This will provide safer access, additional parking and an improved visitor experience to the area. Read more

June 21 is National Aboriginal Day. This is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. The Canadian Constitution recognizes these three groups as Aboriginal peoples, also known as Indigenous Peoples. Read more

One of the amazing experiences of living in Jasper National Park is the opportunity to see wild animals living free in their natural world. Given the size of Jasper, the variety of activities and over two million visitors every year, it takes a conscious effort from each of us to make sure we do not harm the very thing that makes the park special: its wild nature. This week’s National Park News was written by Natalia Wycislak, who was part of a group of university students from the University of Manitoba who recently visited the Mountain Parks. The Icefields Parkway is one of the most scenic drives in the world, offering visitors vistas of snow-capped peaks, glaciers, waterfalls, glacier-fed rivers and lakes. It also provides an opportunity to glimpse some notable Rocky Mountain wildlife, such as mountain goats, bighorn sheep, wolves, black bears and eagles.
