Kathryn Smith - Align Massage Therapy

Kathryn Smith - Align Massage Therapy

Do you have sore, aching muscles, headache or other ailments and wonder if a massage might help you? Stop in to Align Massage Therapy and visit Kathryn Smith, Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) for an assessment and consultation.

Located upstairs in the Valemount Dental/Veterinarian building, Kathryn graduated from a two year RMT course in Vernon, British Columbia and has been operating Align Massage Therapy since May 2015.

Being self-employed has always been one of Smith’s goals and learning to run a business has been fun and hectic, but always hugely rewarding. She is thankful to be working in a community that values and supports local business. Being an RMT has also enabled her to work with a very diverse group of people from seniors to professional athletes. Smith says the broad range of reasons that people seek massage therapy is one of the best things about her job; it’s different every day, and developing treatment plans for her clients keeps her doing research and professional upgrading so she can provide the best care possible.

Kathryn treats her clients using a wide range of different modalities including trigger point release, deep Swedish massage, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation or PNF stretching (a common practice for increasing range of motion), visceral manipulation, hydrotherapy and active assisted range of motion to name a few. She also treats conditions in every stage from acute injury to chronic pain and dysfunction, oft-times working in conjunction with other professionals like medical doctors, chiropractors, and physiotherapists.
