Mountain Driftwood Gallery is the latest touch of appeal to grace Valemount’s Fifth Avenue. The gallery, the brainchild of Bonnie Marklund, features artistic creations from some of Valemount’s best.

Bonnie Marklund is already well-known in the community for her amazing paintings. Together with husband Paul, Bonnie had previously displayed her work at a gallery in their Mountain Driftwood Gallery & Lodging Bed and Breakfast, which has now been passed on to new Valemount residents Jeff and Debra Jewett.

Marklund says she began painting when they moved to Valemount back in 2007, but running a busy B & B limited her time for painting. Now, says Marklund, she has more time to focus on her creations.

Marklund is also sharing gallery space with another amazing local artist, Pam Cinnamon.

Aside from paintings, the gallery also features quilted fabric creations of Sandy Braun, and homemade jewelry by Jeannette Lorenz, both also well known in the community for their skill.

Also on display are wood carvings and products, some made by Ken Wiesner, who served here in the Village temporarily as CAO, as well as some made by Bonnie’s husband Paul.

With her and Paul now travelling much of the year, Braun and Lorenz will share in the management and supervision of the gallery.

With prime location and talent, the gallery is certain to thrive.
