On Saturday June 10th a member of the Valemount RCMP were patrolling Highway 5 near Jackman Flats when they observed a vehicle approaching southbound at a high rate of speed.  The member engaged their onboard radar unit and locked the oncoming vehicle speed at 192kph in a 100kph zone.  

A traffic stop was conducted with a grey Toyota Camry, and upon speaking with the driver an odour of marihuana was detected emanating from the interior of the vehicle.  Both occupants (male driver and female passenger) were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and the vehicle searched incidental to arrest.

During the search Valemount RCMP located a relatively small amount of marihuana, approximately 30 grams of cocaine, approximately 100 Oxycodone, and over $50,000 stacked cash.  The vehicle was subsequently towed from the scene.

Both occupants were later released to appear in court at a later date for recommended charges that include: 

Possession for the purpose of trafficking

Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Possession of Property obtained by Crime over

$5000.
