Military Police National Motorcycle Relay riders visit Valemount

Each summer since 2009, as many as 300 motorcycle riders participate in the Military Police National Motorcycle Relay ride across Canada from Victoria BC to St John's NFLD.

Each province has its own chapter of riders who meet up during the relay; some will continue on the journey and others will make the return trip home.

During the ride across the provinces, the groups stop at Canadian Legions and Armed Forces establishments where they are treated to local hospitality and create awareness of, and raise money for the Military Police Fund for Blind Children, which specializes in assisting visually impaired children up to the age of 21.

Since the inception of the relay ride more that $48,000 has been raised for this and other charities.

On Aug. 3, Royal Canadian Legion Valemount Branch 266 welcomed fifteen riders of the British Columbia ChapterĀ of MPNMR to our club. Riders enjoyed a complimentary dinner of BBQ burgers and fries and a pancake breakfast to send them on their way the next morning.

During their visit RCL President Pete Pearson presented the riders with a cheque for $200 to help support their charity.
