Cross-country skiing
With over 25 km of groomed cross country ski trails for all ability levels, the hub is the perfect place to park your vehicle, slap on your cross-country skis or snowshoes and hit the trails. New this year…Red chairs along the Whirlpool Trail near the Whirlpool River, don’t forget your camera! Take a picture and share it on social media using #sharethechair and #jaspernp.
Interpretive programming
Join Parks Canada’s Senior Interpreter, Brian Catto this winter at Whirlpool Winter Hub. He’ll be offering a variety of programs during Jasper in January (January 12 – 28, 2018) and Family Day Weekend (February, 16 -19, 2018).
Bring your snowshoes and attend our very popular dark sky program. No snowshoes? No problem! We’ll have complimentary snowshoes available at Whirlpool Winter Hub for you to use. New to snowshoeing? Check out our ‘Learn to Snowshoe’ session offered during the day. For the nature enthusiasts, don’t miss our ‘Pine Beetle’ and ‘Wildlife Snowshoe’ programs. AND, for those who like to brave the winter temperatures, take in our “Learn to Winter Camp” session.
Winter camping
Camping at Whirlpool Winter Hub is already underway. There is no water or power on site. RV sites and tent sites are available by self-registration for $15.70 per night, with an extra $8.80 for a daily fire permit.
Amenities
A wonderful warming hut with a wood stove and picnic tables await you after a day filled of winter activities. A privy and garbage bins are also on site.
