On the weekend of Jan. 19 and 20 McBride Secondary School hosted the Colin Axelsen Mustang Classic with a series of 16 games over the two-day period.

Junior teams included Fort St. James, Valemount,
Cedars Christian from Prince George, and McBride Secondary, with each playing three games over the tournament.

Senior teams were Fort St. James, Valemount, Cedars Christian, Chetwynd, and McBride, with each team playing four games.

Action began on Friday at 11:00 am and continued through with seven games that day, starting again at 8:00 am on Saturday with nine games throughout the day and into the evening.

Many of the games over the tournament were close, with two going into overtime before finally being decided.

The last two involved both the Junior and Senior teams from Valemount against McBride Secondary.

The first rivalry saw the McBride Junior team defeat Valemount in a close game with a final score of 41 to 33.

The Seniors’ game, closing off the tournament, had McBride defeating Valemount by a score of 92 to 62.
