Food Bank gets boost before the Season

The 2nd annual Pantry Party raised over $2000 for the Food Bank in Valemount.

The event was held on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Legion Hall, with well-known local singers Wayne Brown, Annette Ryerson, Michael Peters and a host of others. The money that was raised came from baking table sales, ticket sales, silent auction and 50/50s. There were also food donations.

Of course, none of this would be made possible if not for the effort and dedication of all the volunteers. It takes a lot of work to organize and carry out an event like this, so thank you community of Valemount, including participants.

This fundraiser is important for the Food Bank at this time of year, with the advent of the Christmas close at hand, when demands for food hampers increase.

The Food Bank is also once again collecting for the Angel Tree, in which gifts are given to children whose names have been forwarded to them.

They will have a table set up in the foyer of the Valemount High School this Saturday, November 24, during the annual Craft Fair. Names can be submitted at this time. Names are then forwarded to the Valemount Public Library where the Angel Tree is displayed.
