On Wednesday, Feb. 20 representatives from Four Rivers Co-op visited members of the Valemount Senior Citizens Housing Society (VSCHS) at the Golden Years Lodge for a special presentation.

VSCHS received a donation of $7,800 through the Co-op’s Community Support Fund.

They plan to use the funds for renovations and upgrades on the bathrooms in order to bring the facilities up to code.

Bill Kruisselbrink, Vice-President of VSCHS in a statement said, “As the operator of low-cost senior citizens housing for the residents of Valemount and area, we are constantly struggling to maintain our facilities while also keeping the prices affordable. This contribution to upgrading one of our units is greatly appreciated and will be a considerable help in this endeavor. Thank you very much to Four Rivers Co-op for this.”

The VSCHS is one of ten organizations to receive funding from Co-op’s Community Support Fund. In 2018 the Co-op committed to support charities, non-profits and community groups in eight communities across its trading district.

Bud Pye, President of the Board of Directors of Four Rivers Co-op emphasized during the presentation that the Co-op’s goal is to assist organizations that support those in need such as hospitals and senior citizen facilities.

“We are proud to be able to support organizations whose initiatives support and improve the quality of life in our communities,” he said.

“Supporting our seniors and ensuring they have the necessary equipment in order to live on their own with minimal support is one that Four Rivers Co-op is proud to support.”
