Yes, it’s true - the long-time newspaper of the Robson Valley has been sold, with an agreement of sale taking place just last week.

The purchaser is the Rocky Mountain Goat newspaper.

The decision to hasten a sale was dictated by personal circumstances – a somewhat rare condition in my hands that cannot be ignored and that requires an immediate stop to the level of computer work I have been doing.

It was not practical from a business standpoint to hire more people to fill in the level of work that I carry out in running the newspaper.

The next steps

Because of the sale, the decision was made that this will be the final issue of The Valley Sentinel.

In conversations with the Rocky Mountain Goat there have been suggestions that they would find a way to keep the legacy of The Valley Sentinel alive, such as by maintaining the archives, but any final decision in this regard is, of course, up to their discretion.

In the meantime, our next step will be working with subscribers and advertisers to clean up and finalize accounts.

While the sale may come as a shock to many, and even a disappointment to those die-hard Valley Sentinel loyalists, as in all changes, we will adjust.

Thanks to all who supported The Valley Sentinel over the years. It is much appreciated.
