Breaking News: Evacuation Order Leona Creek Near Tete Jaune

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George has issued an evacuation order for an individual property on Leona Creek near Tete Jaune. The property straddles the creek where yesterday’s mud slide occurred. Provincial officials have advised that there is still a build up of debris upstream from the residence of concern creating a risk of an additional debris torrent.
There are no other evacuation orders at this time.  An evacuation alert remains in effect for residents in Foreman Flats and 10 homes in the Shelley Townsite along the bank of the Fraser River.
River levels in those areas continue to rise.  Regional District officials conducted site visits this evening and will be doing a site visit tomorrow morning.  Water levels in Foreman Flats rose just over 1 foot between 1:00 pm this afternoon and this evening.
The next planned media update will be after 10:15 am tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, once field staff have have returned from their site visit to Foreman Flats and Shelley tomorrow morning.  Should there be any major events between now and then, you will be notified.
